The magical stone of love and sex with the color and effect of a beautiful Bordeaux. The Greek nymph, Amethystos, rejected the musings and flirtations of Dionysus, the god of wine. Being a virgin, Amethystos didn't know she was a nympho, yet..... so in an effort to avoid self-actualizing, she got on her knees and prayed to Artemis, also a virgin and a goddess. Artemis morphed Amethystos into a clear whitish stone to preserve her purity and make her, impenetrable by a mere mortal. But, as story would have it, Dionysus stumbled drunkingly, or perhaps craftily, and spilled his wine no Amethystos crystal turning it purple.
The deep purple hue of Amethyst made it the power and wealth gem of choice with the Royals of Ancient Mediterranean, and eventually the Crown, being embroidered and sewn into royal robes, and as valued as rubies, emeralds, and sapphires.
